Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is the surgical procedure designed to make the recipient look more rested and alert for either the upper or lower eyelids. It is often used in conjunction with a surgical facelift. The eyelid lift is accomplished when the surgeon makes incisions along the natural skin lines of the eyelids. The excess skin is then removed or repositioned in the area and then the surrounding muscles and tendons may be reinforced. This improves the puffiness or ‘bags’ under the eyes and can also decrease the wrinkling of the surrounding skin. The surgery can also treat the upper or lower lids by removing excess fat. Downtime after this procedure can range up to 2 weeks. The most common side effects are swelling and bruising to the treated areas. Additional side effects can include dry eyes, scarring and the inability to close the eye completely. Only you and a certified surgeon can decide of blepharoplasty is right for you.
