Originally used to treat eye muscle disorders, BOTOX® is FDA approved for the use of temporary reduction of muscle activity that causes frown lines of the forehead and the squint lines around the eyes to become smooth and even. Forehead wrinkles are generated from muscle movement with facial expressions. The passage of time and continuous movement of these facial muscles can often increase the depth of these wrinkles and make them appear more pronounced. The beauty of BOTOX® is that it helps to relax the forehead muscles, thereby reducing the appearance of creases and lines. Made from Clostridium Botulinum bacterium, Botulinum Toxin Type A has been proven effective in many medical applications such as decreasing muscle spasticity, jaw clenching, migraine headaches and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). BOTOX® is very popular wrinkle treatment as it is very safe and effective and boasts minimal side effects. After the initial injections, the full effectiveness of the treatment can take from 3 days to 2 weeks to become noticeable. Occasionally complete relaxation may not be achieved and a touch up to the non-effected or minimally effected area may be required. BOTOX® effects can last up to 4 months and sometimes longer after repeated treatments.
