Breast Exchange
Breast Exchange is a procedure that involves the exchanging or replacing of implants used for breast augmentation. While breast augmentation procedures are very common and very successful, over time, some patients need to have adjustments or replacements made to their breasts following augmentation surgery. There are several reasons that a woman might have to undergo a Breast Exchange, these include:
Implant Leak: A saline implant may leak and deflate. Saline is completely harmless yet if an implant leaks, the breast could become misshapen. This can be treated by simply removing the leaky implant and replacing it with a new one.
Silicone Repalcement: For a plethora of reasons—negative reaction, irritation, shape, etc.—sometimes women have to have silicone implants removed and replaced. Whether they are replaced with other silicone implants or with saline implants, a Breast Exchange would be the procedure used.
Scar Tissue: While very rare, some patients will develop scar tissue around their implants. If this occurs, the scar tissue will be removed and the implants will be replaced
Unsatisfactory Position: Some women are not happy with the shape or position of their implants. If this is the case, a Breast Exchange will be performed to improve the look of the breast.
The Breast Exchange procedure is performed in the exact same way as an augmentation procedure. An incision is made, ion most cases the corrective procedure can be performed through the old small scar created from your original augmentation procedure, a slender instrument will remove the old implant as well as reposition the new implant, and the incision will be sutured. Breast Exchange is a very popular procedure and is very successful. For those women who have had breast augmentation, but now have problems or don't like the look, then a breast exchange procedure may be the solution to give you the look you desire. |
