Buttock Augmentation

Buttock Augmentation is an innovative procedure that gives individuals the option to augment their buttocks for a fuller, more muscular look.  Whether referred to as buttock augmentation, butt implants, or gluteoplasty, they’re all the same procedure. There are two types of buttock augmentation that individuals can undergo. The first involves removing or moving fat in the buttock area to achieve the desired shape, and the second involves the surgical insertion of artificial implants into the butt to augment the size and change the shape. While this procedure could be sought out due to injury, most often the individuals seeking this surgery are those who are dissatisfied with the size and shape of their buttocks.

The buttock consists mainly of muscle, fat and skin; its underlying support is bone. The shape and contour of the buttock area depends greatly on the person’s framework but is also determined by genetics.  While buttock shape can vary based on the underlying bone structure, its main volume and definition comes from fat.

To start the Buttock Augmentation procedure, an incision is usually made in the buttock crease, where scars are less likely to be noticeable. While this is ideal for aesthetics, this area does carry a high infection risk so it is important for patients to follow all post treatment guidelines for proper healing. Once the incision is made, the doctor will then create a pocket large enough to insert the buttock implant.  Depending on the shape the patient is wishing to achieve, the implants can be placed either under the gluteus maximus muscle or on top of the muscle.  Liposuction may also be necessary in order to shape the buttocks.

Once the Buttock Augmentation is complete, the doctor will ensure the implants are both symmetrical and natural looking; after this the surgeon will close the incisions. General anesthesia is most often utilized for this procedure, although some doctors use a local anesthetic along with a sedative. It is important to discuss your concerns regarding anesthesia at your initial consultation.  Recovery will be slow, for several weeks it will be impossible to sit or lie on your buttocks. The recovery period is extremely critical and you must follow your doctor’s instructions carefully in order to avoid infection and heal correctly.  For those who are self conscious about the size and shape of their buttocks, Buttock Augmentation is a fantastic procedure that can give you the results you are looking for.
