DOT Therapy
Dermal Optical Thermolysis or DOT therapy is a micro-ablative approach to skin renewal and regeneration for the correction of fine lines, pigmentation, sun damage acne scars, and skin laxity. The SmartXide DOT CO2 laser system is manufactured in Italy and FDA approved in the United States for laser skin resurfacing. DOT therapy is a fractional laser technique using the technology of CO2 laser, giving close to CO2 results with less than half of the downtime. In the past the original CO2 lasers could cover the skin on the face but treatment to the neck or décolletage was not a viable option, as these areas did not heal well. The original CO2 laser also had prolonged redness, significant discomfort and significant recovery time.
With DOT therapy, the treatment works little to no anesthesia. It creates thousands of tiny perforations in the skin in a ‘dot like’ pattern. The tissue surrounding the perforations is left intact and assists healing at a faster rate to improve the texture and tone of the skin. Generally patients are back to work within 48 hours. The results induce skin tightening, collagen growth, improved texture and diminished fine lines, deep wrinkles, acne scars and reduced pigmentation. Treatments can be customized to meet the specific skin requirements of each patient. |
