Endermologie

Endermologie is the first non surgical cellulite reduction therapy. It has been available in the United States since 1996. Cellulite is a skin condition that results from engorged fat cells trapped in a network of collagen located deep within the skin. The product of these engorged fat cells is unsightly lumpy dimpled skin that resembles the look of orange peels or cottage cheese. It appears most often on the hips, thighs, and buttocks. Over 80% of women over the age of 20 are affected by this skin condition.

This non invasive treatment uses suction and mechanical rollers to redistribute skin, and temporarily increase circulation to the treated areas. A thin garment is worn over the skin and rollers are moved over the skin using regulated suction and massage techniques. Sessions often feel like a deep tissue massage. A typical treatment lasts 30-45 minutes. Results are often seen in 15-30 sessions. Since there is no cure for cellulite, results must be maintained through monthly treatments to keep the skin looking smooth and dimple free.

Side effects can include bruising and soreness in the treated areas. Technicians recommend drinking 8-10 glasses of water on the day of the procedures to assist results. There is no downtime. Endermologie is not recommended for patients who are 30 or more pounds overweight, as they tend to see limited to no results. Typical treatments cost $100 per session.
