Hand Rejuvenation
Exposure to the sun and natural aging cause the hands to appear as one of the first areas to show visible signs of age. The obvious indicators are pigmented spots or age spots and pre cancerous growths. Also, loss of fatty tissue makes hands look thin and boney and excess skin also give age away. Luckily there are various treatments and procedures available to keep the visible look of aging at bay, especially for the hands.
Topical treatments for hand rejuvenation include Retin-A, chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Retin A helps to fade age spots and stimulate collagen growth. Chemical peels strip away the top layer of skin to remove pigmented areas, remove dead skin cells and stimulate collagen growth giving smoother more toned appearance. Microdermabrasion will scrape away the top layer of skin, helping to remove the darkened spots, dead cells and give a polished renewed look to the hands.
As the skin ages, the bones and the veins of the hands become more pronounced. Sclerotherapy, can eliminate some of those veins. Dermal fillers are used to plump the hand for a softer more youthful appearance. The fillers include Restylane®, Artefill® and Juvederm™.
Laser treatments can also help to eliminate the pigmented areas and bring the hands back to a more rejuvenated youthful look. CO2 and Erbium lasers remove the top layers of skin, thereby removing pigment and dead skin cells. The new skin heals with a firmer, vibrant look without the age spots. Thermage® ThermaCool can also stimulate new collage growth for a younger appearance to the hands.
And finally for those who have some excess skin on the hands due to thinness from loss of fat, as the aging process continues, surgery can be done with fine incisions to remove the excess and give a tighter more youthful look. |
