Hylaform

Hylaform has been FDA approved since 2004 for use as an injectible dermal filler for the treatment of moderate to severe facial creases and wrinkles. Made with Hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body that helps to attract and maintain hydration levels in the skin, it works by trapping and binding with water to maintain skin volume, giving skin its plumpness. Hylaform works by imitating the effects of this natural substance within the skin. It is animal derived, made from the combs of specially bred roosters. The clear gel is injected into the dermis within the wrinkle to lift and rehydrated the area under the skin. Results are immediate and will last 6-12 month, after which it will be absorbed by the body. Hylaform corrects of lines and wrinkles near the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and cheek wrinkles. It will also make lips fuller and increase lip borders.

Side effects include redness and swelling at the site of injection, bruising, lumps or bumps in the treated area. No pre treatment skin testing is required, however in rare cases people with bird allergies may experience a hypersentivity reaction to Hyalform.
