Lipodissolve

Lipodissolve is a treatment designed to dissolve fat cells. It consists of a series of injections reported to remove and shrink fat cells in localized deposits. This innovative procedure involves micro-injections of a formulation consisting of two naturally occurring chemicals, phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate, into the treatment areas. These chemicals act like detergents and have the ability to dissolve excess, unwanted fat. The main compound used in for lipolysis (fat dissolving) is called phosphatidylcholine (PPC). PPC is one of the main components of soy lecithin, which has the ability to break down fat and reduce cholesterol. Additional chemicals added to the lipodissolve are multivitamins, enzymes, plant extracts and alpha lipid acid.

Lipodissolve is a fantastic non-surgical alternative to Liposuction.  Traditional liposuction involves risk and comes with side effects and extensive downtime; Lipodissolve involves less risk, fewer side effects and minimal down time. While this treatment, because of its injections, may seem similar to Mesotherapy, they are in fact very different.  Lipodissolve differs from Mesotherapy in that Mesotherapy is used to treat cellulite and Lipodissolve is for the deeper fat. Typical therapy protocols involve 1- 3 treatments that range from 30-60 minutes, spread 6 weeks apart. Once dissolved, the fat is removed through the ‘normal waste’ removal of the body. The caution with lipodissolve is that there is no standard ingredient list for the solutions used and it is not FDA approved. A clinical trial is recruiting for its effectiveness currently. It is very important when choosing this treatment to choose a physician trained and licensed to use this procedure. Costs range from $200 to $800.
