Lipotherme

Lipotherme™ by Osyris is a laser assisted lipolysis technique used to break up, liquefy and remove fat cells using laser energy. Developed in Europe, this treatment offers benefits on par with traditional liposuction, although it is generally recommended for smaller areas that do not respond as well to conventional liposuction. A hollow tube with a laser attached, known as a cannula, is inserted into the skin in areas of increased fat stores. The tip of the laser cannula is touched to the fat, liquefying it. The thermal effect causes the skin to become tighter through contraction for effective body contouring in less time than traditional liposuction.

Laser assisted liposuction sports many advantages over traditional liposuction. First, it is gentler and safer, partly due to the much smaller cannula’s used. Second, smaller cannulas indicate smaller incisions, limiting the chances of scarring. Finally, because heat is generated by this method, the body responds by contracting the tissue, leaving skin tighter and smoother in the treated area. Because traditional liposuction can often leave uneven contours and loose skin, the tightening of skin provided by Lipotherme™ is definitely a positive attribute.

Treatments with the laser lipolysis generally result in less swelling and bleeding as compared to traditional liposuction methods which is great for those who want to experience the results of liposuction without actually enduring this traditional method. This type of liposuction is minimally invasive and requires little to no downtime. Dramatic improvement may be seen 1-2 weeks after treatment, however the best improvements are generally seen after 12-16 weeks, as the body continues to heal and produce collagen. The average cost for Lipotherme™ is $4000.
