Macrodermabrasion
Macrodermabrasion is a skin rejuvenation technique that is non-invasive, non-surgical and is safe for use on all skin types and colors. Macrodermabrasion is an extended version of the microdermabrasion technique to treat sun damage, fine lines, age spots, uneven pigmentation and minor acne scars. This treatment uses non-toxic sodium chloride (salt) in conjunction with a pressure system that works to safely pumice the skin without causing damage. Following each treatment, patients will experience softer, more youthful looking skin.
In addition to the polishing of the top layer of skin, macrodermabrasion utilizes ultrasound technology to apply a glycolic acid. The ultrasound technology allows an increased penetration of the topical solutions into the deeper into the skin. The skin responds by revealing smoother texture and firmness. This procedure can be used alone or in combination with laser skin resurfacing. A series of up to 7 treatments every 2 weeks is the usual protocol. Total treatment time is around 60 minutes. Macrodermabrasion is also FDA approved for the treatment of stretch marks.
