Non Surgical Facelift
The non surgical face lift refers to a lifting and tightening of facial skin by non surgical means. The non surgical facelift generally will work best on those without a lot of sagging or loose skin, keeping in mind that the final results may take up to 6 months for full effect.
Several techniques and products are available today that report to lift and tighten the facial skin. Many topical creams with high concentrations of amino acids are available with the intent to tighten skin and decrease fine lines and wrinkles. While in recent years these products have improved, the results continue to be minimal at best.
Thread facelifts may sometimes be considered non surgical, because they are done under local anesthetic in under an hour. These quick procedures are very effective for minimal to moderately loose sagging skin, however there are small incisions made in the skin to lift the tissue. MicroCurrent facelifts use gentle electric currents is applied to the face to stimulate cell reaction. They causes exfoliation, rejuvenation, tightening of the facial muscles, decrease sun damage, and cause subtle facial changes. This treatment also reports improved circulation and stimulates facial muscles.
The laser facelift are usually what one thinks of when the term non surgical facelift is used. Of the tightening procedures available, the two major ‘laser type’ treatments that come to mind are the Titan by Cutera and Thermage. While each uses a different type of technology, the basis of how they work is similar. Heat the deeper layers of skin to initiate a response that will encourage collagen remodeling and production. This in turn causes the skin to contract, given a tighter and more lifted appearance. These treatments have been done successfully on both face and body, by working without causing a peeling of the top layer of skin, something that an ablative laser or a chemical peel will do. In addition they also report reducing cellulite.
