Pixel Laser
Pixel Laser skin resurfacing is the FDA approved for treatment of wrinkles, scars, sun damage, texture and pigmentation on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands by Alma lasers. This innovative treatment works by treating a ‘fraction’ of the skin, using an objective lens and adjustable beam to determine the depth of the laser penetration within the dermis. The laser targets a pattern of skin leaving micro portions of the skin intact called pixilation.
Small tiny pin sized points made by the laser work to preserve the normal tissue, which maintains the tissue’s stability as the treated areas begin to heal; this assists it in faster healing as well as the stimulation of natural collagen production. Up to 35% of the skin is treated at one time, leaving the remaining 64% untreated to aide in faster healing. The Pixel Laser combines the best of the ablative and non-ablative lasers for effective results with limited discomfort and recovery time.
Protocol for treatment suggests a series of 5 procedures spaced 2-4 weeks apart and takes less than 30 minutes. Treated areas generally heal in 3-4 days with the major side effects being swelling and mild redness which is followed by peeling of the skin a few days later. Often the small dots may be seen for a few days after the treatment. Results claim to be skin tightening, improved tone and texture, decreased pore size, decreased pigmentation and softening of acne scars.
