ThermaFrax
ThermaFrax is a term that describes a series of skin rejuvenation treatments with the use of two technologies, the Fraxel® and Thermacool Thermage®. The results are reported to be comparable to those of a face lift, without the scars and the surgery. The series of treatments works on pigmentation, fine lines, loose saggy skin and wrinkles. As we age the natural skin renewal process begins to slow down leaving dull dead skin on the surface and decreased collagen production under the surface of the skin. By combining these two treatment technologies, the skin is able to kick start itself back into its regeneration mode.
The Fraxel® works through fractional technology by treating a ‘fraction’ of the skin. The laser targets a pattern of skin leaving micro portions of the skin intact, generally in a dot or pixel like pattern. The intact areas maintain the tissue’s stability as the treated areas begin to heal, assisting in a faster healing. Minimal to no peeling, no scabbing and minimal down time are added benefits for this combination therapy. The Thermage® uses monopolar radiofrequency technology to heat below the surface of the skin, penetrating the dermis and causing the collagen and underlying tissue to tighten and restart itself. The combination of both lasers offers a better delivery of the heat needed to stimulate collagen development and overall tightening.
The ThermaFrax is done with a series of 6 treatments and both Thermage® and Fraxel® can be done on the same day. Side effects include minor swelling and redness that will dissipate within a day or two. Results appear as the skin repairs itself, however the full results may not be evident for several months after the last treatment. |
