Ultrasonic Liposuction

Liposuction is the cosmetic procedure in which excess body fat is removed from specific trouble areas and Ultrasonic is a safer more effective way to remove excess fat with lasting results. This revolutionary treatment can be performed successfully on almost any area of the body including the hips, thighs, buttocks, knees, neck, cheeks, face, chin and upper arms. Ultrasonic liposuction is also a great option for those individuals having additional fat removed from a previously treated area. In this case, the procedure is in no way a replacement for traditional liposuction, but a complement to an already established and effective procedure.

Over the last ten years, the liposuction technology has advanced tremendously. Ultrasonic Liposuction also known as liposelection is a relatively recent development in body contouring that extends the capabilities of the surgeon; areas can now be reached that were not previously accessible. During treatment, ultrasonic energy is directly applied to the fat cells in the body; this energy converts the fat cells to a less dense liquid form which is ultimately easier to remove. This treatment is especially beneficial for removing fat from difficult areas such as the upper abdomen, flanks, hips and back.

Those patients who benefit most from any form of liposuction treatment are people of relatively normal weight with pockets of fat that cause certain areas of their body to appear disproportionate. Often these localized fat deposits are genetic and therefore respond slowly to dieting and/or exercise. Ultrasonic Liposuction may be the only method of eliminating these stubborn areas. Age is not a major issue for preventing someone from undergoing liposuction; however medical problems may prohibit an individual from undergoing treatment. Those patients with major medical problems such as heart disease, lung dysfunction, poor circulation or diabetes may not be able to tolerate the invasive nature of the procedure.

The length of time needed for the Ultrasonic Liposuction surgery will vary depending on the amount of fat being removed and the area that is being treated. Once the anesthesia has been administered, your surgeon will make a tiny incision in order to insert an instrument called a cannula. The cannula is used to push and pull through the layer of fat, effectively breaking it down and then suctioning it out. With Ultrasonic Liposuction, a tiny ultrasonic generator is attached to the cannula which sends the ultrasonic energy into the fat cells before suctioning them out. Patients who successfully undergo this procedure will experience smooth, tight, excess fat free results that last.
