VelaShape™/ VelaContour™ by Syneron uses Elos technology to reduce thigh circumference and improve the look of cellulite. Cellulite is a skin condition that results from engorged fat cells trapped in a network of collagen located deep within the skin. The product of these engorged fat cells is unsightly lumpy dimpled skin that resembles the look of orange peels or cottage cheese. It appears most often on the hips, thighs, and buttocks. Over 80% of women over the age of 20 are affected by this skin condition.
VelaShape™/ VelaContour™ are FDA approved device that use a Bi-Polar radiofrequency and Infrared light and combine them with vacuum suction and mechanical massage for an effective treatment. These combined technologies work by breaking up the fat with the heat of the infrared and radiofrequency light. The massage and vacuum then mobilize the water and fat from the tissues to move it out of the body through the lymph system.
VelaShape™/VelaSmooth™ feel like a very warm deep tissue massage. Four 45 minute treatment sessions are standard protocol to achieve a desired effect. Depending on the severity of the cellulite more initial treatments may be needed. Occasional maintenance treatments are required once or twice per year to keep the smooth appearance. Treatments are individualized to accommodate the comfort level of each patient. Side effects are a warm sensation to the treated area for a few hours after treatment, redness to the treated area and in some extreme cases small blisters or crusting to the area. This treatment is safe for most skin types and has requires not downtime. Improvements to the cellulite can be seen after only one session however gradual improvement is most apparent 2 months after the last treatment.
